Flexi Time is the newest addition to the Capstone Horse Feed range and introduces the concept of a concentrate feed which gives the home mixer a wide range of flexibility as to how to feed his horse and can be used in numerous applications in different equestrian disciplines.
Flexi Time is a versatile and highly concentrated feed featuring quality micronized grains scientifically formulated to fulfill the nutritional requirements of breeding, racing and performance horses.
Flexi Time is also a highly fortified feed supplying optimum vitamins, amino acids and minerals to the horse’s diet where the included micronized grains and added forages supply the energy and roughage portions.
This product is designed to be fed as the sole grain portion of the ration or with additional straight grains if more energy is required.
Flexi Time can be used in a diet with all types of additional grains (oats, maize, barley etc) and forages (lucerne, oaten hay, teff, eragrostis, pastures etc) and is designed to balance the diet regardless of other ingredients used and the ratios in which they are added.
This feed should be fed in conjunction with a minimum of 1% body weight of quality roughage such as equi-chaff or hay and/or pasture.
As a guide, Flexi Time should be fed at the rate of 1.5 – 2.5 kg per horse per day. Flexi Time is a high energy (13.3 MJ per kg) high protein (20.0% crude protein) feed with a relatively high 6.4% fat content. Care should be taken not to overfeed horses confined to stables or not receiving regular exercise. We recommend that you introduce Flexi Time to your horse’s diet gradually over a period of 7 – 10 days.
Flexi Time is a scientifically formulated feed by the experts of KER, containing the following quality ingredients: Life Time Balancer pellet made from soya meal, canola meal, sunflower meal, wheaten bran, molasses, salt, feedlime, calphos, chromium, magnesium, live yeast, added lysine and methionine, full fat soya together with micronized maize, micronized barley, micronized lupins, sunflower seeds and vegetable oil with some molasses.
Flexi Time is an oat free feed enabling the home mixer to add oats as required for additional energy.
The following table gives an indication of a typical concentrate feed mix and the protein level contained in such mixes.
Amount fed per horse per day
Flexi Time in Kgs | Added oats in Kgs | Total concentrate Feed fed in kgs |
Concentrate feed protein level | Grams of protein ingested |
2 | 2 | 20.00% | 400 | |
2 | 1 | 3 | 16.30% | 490 |
2 | 2 | 4 | 14.50% | 580 |
2 | 3 | 5 | 13.40% | 670 |
2 | 4 | 6 | 12.70% | 760 |
Note:
- It is not the % of protein in a feed which is important but the actual amount of protein in weight ingested by a horse each day (as per the total amount of feed).
- When Flexi Time is fed at recommended levels, no other supplement is required.
- During periods of heavy sweat loss additional supplementation of a quality electrolyte such as Capstone horse electrolyte, is recommended.
- If in doubt, please consult your veterinarian or feed supply advisor.
